Astacidae: The Freshwater Crayfish Family
Astacidae is a family of crustaceans that includes crayfish and crawdads. These freshwater decapod crustaceans are closely related to lobsters and crabs, but have a more slender body and a shorter tail than their marine relatives. There are over 200 species of astacid crayfish found in rivers, streams, and lakes around the world, with the majority being found in North America and Europe.
