Understanding Autoinoculation: How SARS-CoV-2 Spreads Within the Body
Autoinoculable refers to the ability of a virus or other microorganism to infect itself, either through self-replication or by using its own components as a source of infection. This means that the virus can spread and multiply within an individual without the need for an external source of infection.
In the case of SARS-CoV-2, the virus is autoinoculable because it can infect cells in the respiratory tract and then replicate within those cells, producing more viral particles that can go on to infect other cells. This ability to self-replicate and spread within an individual makes SARS-CoV-2 a highly contagious virus.
