Invidiousness (adjective) (etymology: from Latin invidiosus, from in and videre, to see) means having a feeling of dislike or jealousy towards someone else's success, achievements, possessions, or qualities. Invidiousness implies a resentful attitude towards the person who has what one desires but cannot have oneself.
Examples:
1. Her success was met with envy and invidiousness from her colleagues who felt threatened by her accomplishments.
2. The rich man's wealth was the subject of much invidiousness among his neighbors who could not understand how he had amassed such a fortune.
