Understanding Leaseholder Rights and Responsibilities
A leaseholder is a person or entity that holds a lease, which is a legal agreement between the lessor (the owner of the property) and the lessee (the person or entity renting the property). The leaseholder has the right to occupy and use the property for a specified period of time, usually several years, in exchange for regular payments called rent.
Leaseholders have certain rights and responsibilities under the terms of the lease agreement. They are typically responsible for paying property taxes, insurance premiums, and maintenance costs, as well as any other fees or charges specified in the lease. In return, the leaseholder has the right to occupy and use the property, subject to the terms and conditions of the lease.
Leaseholders do not own the property outright, but rather have a long-term rental agreement with the lessor. At the end of the lease term, the lessee may have the option to renew the lease or purchase the property, depending on the terms of the lease agreement.
