Unveiling Triodontophorus: A Fascinating Fungal Genus
Triodontophorus is a genus of fungi in the family Pyronemataceae. It was first described by French mycologist Claude-Casimir Garnier in 1890, and contains six species that are found in North America, Europe, and Asia. The name Triodontophorus comes from the Greek words "trio", meaning three, "don", meaning tooth, and "phorus", meaning bearer, referring to the three-toothed structure on the spores of these fungi.
