What is a Codefendant?
A codefendant is a person who is also charged with a crime, along with one or more other defendants, in the same legal case. In other words, a codefendant is someone who is jointly accused of committing a crime with one or more other individuals.
For example, if two people are arrested for robbing a bank together, they would be considered codefendants because they are both charged with the same crime. The term "codefendant" is often used interchangeably with the term "co-defendant," and it is commonly used in legal proceedings to refer to someone who is facing criminal charges alongside one or more other defendants.
