What is a Draftsman?
A draftsman, also known as a draughtsman, is a person who creates technical drawings and plans for buildings, bridges, machines, and other structures. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools to create detailed drawings and blueprints that are used by architects, engineers, and construction professionals to build and install these structures.
Draftsmen typically work in industries such as architecture, engineering, and construction, and they may specialize in fields such as mechanical drafting, electrical drafting, or civil drafting. They may also work in manufacturing, where they create drawings of products and machinery.
To become a draftsman, one typically needs to complete a training program in drafting technology, which can include coursework in CAD software, blueprint reading, and drawing techniques. Some draftsmen may also obtain certification in specific areas of drafting, such as building information modeling (BIM) or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
