What is a Turret?
A turret is a tower-like structure on a tank or other armored vehicle that houses a weapon, such as a gun or a missile launcher. The turret provides protection for the crew and allows them to operate the weapon from a safe location.
Turrets are typically found on tanks, but they can also be found on other types of armored vehicles, such as armored personnel carriers and self-propelled artillery. The turret is usually mounted on top of the hull of the vehicle and is rotated to aim the weapon in different directions.
The term "turret" comes from the Latin word "turris," which means "tower." It was first used in the context of military vehicles in the early 20th century, and has since become a standard feature on many types of armored vehicles.
