What is Indorsement?
Indorsed is an archaic or legal term that means "endorsed" or "signed on the back of". It is no longer commonly used in modern English, and has been largely replaced by the word "endorsed".
In the context of a check, an indorsement is a signature on the back of the check that confirms the transfer of ownership or payment. For example, if someone gives a check to another person as a gift, the recipient might indorse the check by signing their name on the back, indicating that they accept the gift and are authorized to deposit or cash the check.
In legal documents, an indorsement is often used to confirm the authenticity of a document or to indicate that the signer has reviewed and agrees with the contents of the document. For example, a notary public might indorse a legal document to confirm that the signers have properly executed the document and that it is a true copy of the original.
