What is Sessile-Leaved?
Sessile-leaved refers to plants that have leaves that are attached to the stem and do not fall off easily. Unlike deciduous plants, which shed their leaves annually, sesile-leaved plants retain their leaves throughout the year. The term "sessile" comes from the Latin word for "sitting," and refers to the fact that the leaves sit on the stem and do not detach easily. Examples of sessile-leaved plants include evergreen trees and shrubs, such as pine and spruce, as well as some herbs like rosemary and thyme.
